Germantown Road conquered, 32 mile bike ride

This approximate 2 mile hill has been taunting me ever since I heard about it last summer.  Today I had to conquer it with my bicycle.  Does it count as conquering it if I actually walked my bike about 20% of the way up?  Downhill on Skyline blvd is a beautiful ride and well worth the effort/climb.  I can’t believe I’ve lived in Portland for 7 years, and only just now traveled that road.

I also got to cross the St Johns bridge on this ride, only my second time crossing the bridge on my  bike.  I love that bridge.  Such a beautiful piece of workmanship.  And Cathedral Park below it is also pretty awesome!

35 mile ride, mostly on the springwater corridor

Rode almost 35 miles today. Met with my friend Kristine over on the 205. We rode to the springwater cooridor trail and out to Linnemann Station in Gresham. I think I was about ready for a nap by the time we stopped. But I managed to make it back home just fine. Now I’m thinking about taking a nap.  I actually *chose* to ride down the steep hill near the 205 and 84 knowing I’d have to ride right back up after meeting up.

Today I chose to ditch using the MapMyRide app for my android and use the google My Tracks app instead.  It worked like a charm.  So, until MapMyRide figures out what’s up with their app, I’m sticking with My Tracks.  Easy to upload and repost on my blog too.  🙂

50.5 Miles with French Toast

Today’s ride was a rough one for me.  By 33rd and Marine drive I was down to 12mph, and by New Seasons at Killingsworth I was down to 10mph.  When I got home, I crawled straight into bed.  It was difficult to pull my self out of that bed.  I wasn’t sleepy.  Just sore and a little queasy.  This is Bicycle Kitty’s French Toast Ride, so I got French Toast near the beginning of the ride.

38.62 Miles, Training has begun!

Today marks the beginning of my training for 2012.  Well, at least it’s the first opportunity I’ve had to do a semi-serious ride.  I had intended on doing about 70 miles today.  I was going to ride up to Vancouver and join some members of the Vancouver Bicycle Club (VBC) for the 30 mile portion of the Ride Around Clark County (RACC).  But alas, I received a business call from a possible new customer and arrived 20 minutes late.  As it turns out, the ride had been cancelled and I got to sit and have coffee with some other members of the VBC.    And actually, my legs are a little sore.  I think they’re relieved to have a 30 mile less ride today.

Wet Springwater

Rode out the springwater trail with Bicycle Kitty (Maria) today.  Whew, what a wet and cold ride that was.  I couldn’t find my raincoat, so I wore my STP jersey which didn’t keep the rain out.  I didn’t realize how cold and wet I was until I switched out my clothes after getting home.

Ended up jumping in a hot bath to warm myself up.

Well, at least I found my raincoat the next evening.  I’m now ready to pickup my riding scheduled before the Columbia Gorge Explorer ride in May.
